Fire Safety Training

Emergency Response Training

Emergencies occur suddenly when you least expect them. That is why workplaces need to be prepared for emergency situations. If not addressed as swiftly as they appear these situations can cause severe financial hardship to companies in terms of damage to structure and contents. Most critically though, they can also cause loss of life.

Sadly, not all Australian companies adopt adequate safety standards in their workplace until its too late. With government regulations now making business and property owners accountable for the personal safety of employees and/or occupants, it is no longer acceptable to ignore the possibility of emergency situations.

Multiphase works with its clientele across Australia to provide training programs that satisfy Australian Workplace Emergency Response (WER) training to meet specific requirements relating to developing emergency response procedures based on AS 3745 Emergency control and procedures for buildings, structures & workplaces. The training is tailored to your property and emergency system equipment needs, and emphasises the specific issues associated with your business.

This involves implementing tailored systems to ensure ongoing effective management of emergency procedures and contingency plans, undertaking document hazard analysis, determining emergency types and developing appropriate procedures to be incorporated in an evacuation plan.

Our experts have knowledge of (among other things):

  • fire safety systems and the outcomes they are designed to deliver,
  • knowledge of the relevant areas of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) in relation to WER
  • have a knowledge of quality assurance principles, practices and procedures.
  • sourcing and interpreting information on major hazard facilities and
    dangerous good regulations.

The Multiphase emergency response program and training is especially designed to enable occupants to react independently prior to the arrival of the professional emergency services. In this way, the risks to life and property are minimised.

Emergency Evacuation Training

In the event of an emergency, it is of primary importance that the staff and visitors to a site are evacuated safely and efficiently. The first priority is to ensure that all people who may be in danger are warned and that action is taken to guarantee their safety, before any steps are taken to prevent the spread of the hazard, to secure assets, or to eliminate the hazard.

Multiphase is able to offer comprehensive Emergency Warning System Operator Training programs targeted and specifically designed to suit your organisation and emergency warning system requirements, focusing on the specific issues associated with your installed fire and life safety systems.

The emergency response and evacuation exercise (also known as an evacuation drill) is designed to evaluate staff response in the event of an emergency occurring. Evacuation drills are a most important part of the staff training associated with emergency evacuation procedures and should be carried out in all buildings at least once a year. This exercise also ensures all employees are aware of how to respond to emergencies, their particular duties and responsibilities, along with specific emergency evacuation procedures – ensuring an effective and comprehensive approach to an emergency evacuation.

The second priority aims at controlling the extent of the hazard within the building and minimising its release into the environment.

The third priority is to prevent personal and Company assets from being damaged in the event of a fire.

The final priority is to eliminate the fire by extinguishment. Our fire extinguisher training aims to train staff to correctly identify each piece of fire fighting equipment on site. The training also demonstrates the correct and safe operating procedures for extinguishing small fires using portable fire extinguishers and hose reels.

Multiphase can provide assistance on all of the above through training in the usage of fire alarms, hose reels, sprinkler systems, hydrants and extinguisher equipment to the wardens/key staff responsible for the operation of fire safety systems. The training and correct deployment of such equipment will eliminate and minimise spread of the hazard and extent of damage.

Workplace Safety Training

Every Australian business must comply with occupational health and safety (OH&S) legislation and be able to prove it has actively sought to maintain workplace safety training for staff and contractors.

Occupational health and safety training can take many forms and choosing the right training for your staff will depend on your particular industry.

Emergency response is an area we commonly supply training for. We also provide training in practical safety, such as working at heights, working in confined spaces and writing up risk assessments for companies concerned about meeting their obligations.

If you are not sure whether your business is meeting its OH&S requirements or the Annual essential Safety Measures Report (AESMR) guidelines, you are taking a big risk. If you have an incident and somebody dies, you have a chance of going to jail or suffering a huge financial setback from which your business would be hard-pressed to recover.
